Kingsoft History

1988	Mr. Kau Pak Kwan joined Kingsoft and established the R&D department in Shenzhen, China. Since invented in R&D, Kingsoft office as China's first word processing software, soon took most of the Chinese market.
1993	Established Kingsoft Company in Zhuhai, China
1994	Established Kingsoft Software Company in Beijing, China
2000	In November, Kingsoft Internet Security V1.0 (Kingsoft Internet Security.Net) was released, which was the first version of Kingsoft Information security product. Kingsoft received second place in "China's Technology Progress Award".
2002	In June, WPS Office 2002 officially launched.
2003	Kingsoft officially launched WPS Office 2003 and successful gained over million users.
2005	After three years of Research and Development, Kingsoft released Kingsoft Office 2005 in September 2005 in which was entirely rebuilt on a new codebase, and was enlisted into the "Hi-Tech Research and Development Program of China". Established Kingsoft company in Japan and launched Kingsoft Internet Security in the market.
2006	Kingsoft Internet Security was awarded the "China Famous Brand" award by the Bureau of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the "Best Product of the Year in China" award by PC Magazine. In July, Kingsoft Internet Security V7.1 achieved the authentication of Britain West Coast Labs Certificate including Checkmark Level I, Checkmark Level II and Trojan. In September, Kingsoft Internet Security V7.2 was released in China and Japan simultaneously.
2007	Kingsoft Office is aggressively expanding overseas. In August, Kingsoft commercially launched its first multi-language WPS Office 2007, which supports Chinese, Japanese, and English. In May, the English version of Kingsoft Office was launched in Vietnam and took its first step in the English market. August 2007, Kingsoft Internet Security V7.2 achieved the Britain VB 100 Certificate and authentication of Britain West Coast Labs Certificate based on Vista. Kingsoft released multiple languages of WPS Office 2007, included Chinese, Japanese, and English versions. Over million users online simultaneously. In October, Kingsoft was successfully listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, raising net proceeds of approximately HK$649.1 million. Kingsoft Office received second place in "China's Technology Progress Award".
2008	Establishment of Kingsoft first wholly-owned subsidiary company in Malaysia. In April, Kingsoft Internet Security 2008 was awarded the VB100 certificate by Virus Bulletin, the International authority in anti-virus software testing. In May, Kingsoft partnered with Google to launch "Google-Kingsoft Ciba".
2009	KingSoft Office 2009 released which has increased compatibility with Microsoft Office including support for the latest 2007 version file formats.
